KFV- काश्मीरमधील तरंगते गाव  (श्रीनगरमधील चाकोरीबाह्य पर्यटन)

काश्मीरच्या श्रीनगरमधे पर्यटन करताना सामान्यतः पर्यटक राहतात ते चांगल्या तारांकीत हॉटेलमधे किंवा हौस फिटवण्यासाठी हाउसबोटमध्ये. . . भारतातील इतर हिलस्टेशनमध्ये किंवा अगदी शेजारील लडाखमधे असलेली होमस्टे/ विलेजस्टेची संकल्पना श्रीनगर व आसपास आतापर्यंत नव्हती. कारणं अनेक आहेत. . . सततची राजकीय अशांतता, पर्यटकांच्याच नव्हे तर गावकरींच्या मनातील संभ्रम/भिती, पायाभुत सुविधांची अनुपलब्धता आणि एक मुख्य कारण म्हणजे पर्यटक, त्यांच्या गरजा, त्यांची खाद्यसंस्कृती याविषयी श्रीनगरच्या आसपास असलेल्या गावातील लोकांचे अज्ञान हे होय. 

श्रीनगर व आसपासच्या गावांत शांतता प्रस्थापित करणे, गरजु गावकरींना आर्थिक लाभ मिळणे, भारताच्या विविध भागांतुन येणाऱ्या पर्यटकांना *कश्मिरीयत* संस्कृतीचा अस्सल अनभुव मिळवुन देणे व एकुणच, स्थानिक लोक व पर्यटक यांत एक विश्वासाचे नातं निर्माण करुन आणि काश्मिरला देशाच्या मुख्य धारेत सामिल करुन सर्वांगिण विकास साधणे. . . हे सर्व सद्हेतु डोळ्यासमोर ठेवुन काश्मिर प्रशासनाने स्थानिक गावकरींच्या साथीने *काश्मिर फ्लोटिंग विलेज- KFV* हि पर्यटन संकल्पना राबवली आहे. अजुनही बाल्यावस्थेत असलेल्या या प्रकल्पांत सहभागी होण्याचे भाग्य मला व आमच्या गृपला लाभले.

प्रसिद्ध दल सरोवरामधे काही बेटं आहेत व या बेटांवरच ५०-१०० घरांची गावं वसली आहेत. या विस्तीर्ण सरोवरातील ही छोटी छोटी बेटं व या बेटांवरच असलेली टुमदार घरं.. . दृश्य एकदम मस्त.. .  यांतील काही इच्छुक स्थानिकांना प्रशिक्षण देउन तयार केलेल्या होमस्टे मधे आम्ही राहिलो. या साध्या पण स्वच्छ आणि काही बाबतीत अपरिपूर्ण तरिही नेटक्या खोल्यांमधे आम्ही धम्माल केली. काश्मिरी लोकांच्या अगत्याने, आदरातिथ्याने व खाद्यसंस्कृतीने आम्ही भारावुन गेलो. मी राहिलो त्या *अखुन मोहल्ला* गावाने पर्यटक हा प्रकार प्रथमच पाहिला. सुखसुविधांची कमतरता असुनही आम्ही तिथं आत्मियतेनं हसतखेळत राहणं आणि गावकरींनीही पर्यटक सुविधा वाढविण्यासाठी कायकाय सुधारणा कराव्यात याबाबत स्वतःहुन आमच्याशी दिलखुलास संवाद साधणं यांतुन आम्हा दोहोबाजुंना शिकण्यासारखं खूप काही होतं. 

स्थानिक शेतकरी व शहरातील भाजीव्यापारी यांचा भल्यापहाटे होड्यांमधुनच होणारा भाजीसौदा, कबुतर स्पर्धा, चटया व दोर विणणारी स्थानिक वृद्ध मंडळी, गावाच्या आजुबाजुच्या छोट्या छोट्या बेटांवर पिकवली जाणारी विविध प्रकारची भाजी, त्या भाजीची होडीतुनच केली जाणारी मशागत, सरोवरात उगवली जाणारी नद्रुची भाजी (नद्रु म्हणजे कमळाचे लांबलचक देठ), जवळपास प्रत्येक घराची स्वतःची होडी हे सर्वच अचंबित करणारं होतं. स्थानिक युवक व बुजुर्गांबरोबरच्या गप्पांतुन तेथील संस्कृती, पध्दती, अडचणी समजल्यांच पण त्याबरोबरच प्रशासन त्यांच्यासाठी घेत असलेले कष्ट व त्यामुळे त्यांना याआधी कधीही न मिळालेल्या सुविधा यामुळे आनंदलेली मनंही दिसली. 

तिथं जाउन राहणं हे एक धाडसच होतं, पण एकूणच काश्मिरींनी आमची घेतलेली काळजी व आम्ही तिथं आनंदात घालवलेले क्षण अविस्मरणीय आहेत. प्रशासनातील एका मोठ्या अधिका-याने आमच्या कृतीला जेव्हा *soldier efforts* असं संबोधुन व *देशसेवा* केल्याचं प्रशस्तीपत्रक दिलं तेव्हा अंगावर निश्चितच मुठभर मांस चढले. 

काश्मिरांत शांतता प्रस्थापित होणं, अधिकाधिक पर्यटकांनी तिथं जाणं, स्थानिक युवकांना रोजगार निर्माण होउन स्वाभिमानाने जगता येणं व पर्यटकांना एका आॕफबीट काश्मिर ट्रीपचा अनुभव देणं हेच तर या प्रकल्पाचं उद्दिष्ट आहे.

(Offbeat tourism in Srinagar)

Tourists generally stay in well-starred hotels or in houseboats in Srinagar, Kashmir. The concept of homestay/villagestay was not present in and around Srinagar till now. The reasons are many.  .  .  Constant political unrest, confusion/fear in the minds of not only tourists but villagers also, non-availability of infrastructure and one of the main reasons is ignorance of the villagers about tourists, their needs and their food culture.

Establishing peace in Srinagar and surrounding villages, providing economic benefits to the needy villagers, giving an authentic experience of *Kashmiriyat* culture to tourists arriving from different parts of India, and overall, achieving all-round development by creating a bond of trust between locals and tourists and integrating Kashmir into the mainstream of the country.  .  .  .  Keeping all these bonafides in mind, the Kashmir administration has implemented the tourism concept of *Kashmir Floating Village - KFV* in collaboration with the local villagers.  My group and I were fortunate enough to be involved in this project that is still in it's infancy.

There are few islands in the famous Dal lake and villages of 50-100 houses are situated on these islands. . . These small islands in this vast lake and the little houses on these islands... .What an awesome view!..  We stayed in a homestay set up by locals. These enthusiast locals are trained on basics of tourist hospitality. We had fun in these simple but clean and in some cases imperfect yet neat rooms. We were overwhelmed by the kindness, hospitality and food culture of the Kashmiri people. The village *Akhun Mohalla* where I stayed, experienced  the tourist stay for the first time. There was a lot to learn for both of us as we were enjoying and having fun despite the lack of few amenities and the villagers themselves had a hearty conversation with us to learn about required improvements to enhance the tourist facilities.

Early morning vegetable trade on boat between local farmers and vegetable traders coming from town, pigeon competition, local elders weaving mats and ropes, various types of vegetables grown on small islands around the village, cultivation of those vegetables from boats, Nadru cultivation in the lake (Nadru means lotus stem), almost every house having its own boat. . . each of these things fascinated us. While chatting with the local youths and elders, not only did we understand the culture, rituals and local issues, but also noticed their happy hearts because of the hard work the administration resulting in the various facilities they never got before.

It was a dare to stay there, but overall, the care taken by the Kashmiris and the happy moments we spent there are unforgettable. When a senior officer in the administration termed our action as *soldier efforts* and gave us a certificate of *national service*, it definitely was a shot in our arm.

The aim of this project is to establish peace in Kashmir, attract more tourists, create employment for local youth to help them live with self-respect and give tourists an offbeat Kashmir trip experience. Lets play our role to make it successful. Thanks.
